1948 Buick Roadmaster Hearse by
Flxible Company
After serving it's time in California as a final class act for folks moving on into the afterlife, this EXTREMELY RARE beauty was re-born as a classy and unusual street rod that gets stares and thumbs up everywhere it goes, and is an award winning show car. The 1948 Buick Roadmaster Hearse pictured here, is powered by a healthy 455 Buick bored 0.40 over with a 79 Camaro sub frame, a 700 R4 automatic transmission, and a Mark V 9 inch rear with 325 gears. An 88 Cadillac power brake system with 4 wheel disc brakes gives you all the stopping power you need, and the 75,000 miles since it was re-built is from driving all over the country from Florida to Canada and everywhere else to shows around the country. This beauty was built to drive and enjoy and features all the comfort of power steering & brakes, cruise control, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, Vintage air and heat, an array of nice Autometer gauges, perfect glass all around, and the ride of a luxury car. The interior looks near perfect and makes for a very comfortable ride. I think that it would make a perfect camper as well.
The beautiful maroon and cream paint looks great, but there are a couple of very small areas showing some cracking from the lead used in the original conversion by the Flxible Corporation in making this into a funeral car. These cars were sent to them to have the entire body extended about 4 inches in height and 6 to 7 inches in length. I also noticed one small chip in the paint.
The frame, supports, body mounts, floors all look very solid.
